Anderson Leonard Chafin was the overseer on the plantation owned by William Prince Ford on Bayou Beauf in Cheneyville, Rapides Parish, LA in 1841. William Prince Ford bought Solomon Northup from the slave pen of Theophilius Freeman in New Orleans.
Northup had been sent there from the slave pen of James H. Birch of Washington City (Now Washington, DC) where he was kidnapped into slavery. He was a free black man at the time.Ford owned Northup (called Platte) for a year then sold him to a carpenter named John Tibeau.
Tibeau mistreated him severely and would have killed him on one occasion had it not been for A.L. Chafin. Chafin threw down on Tibeau and his two friends with a pistol in each hand and stopped the hanging of Solomon Northup. Robert Lovell Aurelius Brinkley participated in the battles of Shiloh, Chattanooga, Chickamauga and Missionary Ridge in 1864. He was captured by Yankee forces 05/25/1864 one day before the big battle of New Hope Church, North Georgia during Yankee General W.T. Sherman's Atlanta Campaign.
Comapny H of the 16th Louisiana Infantry was referred to as“The Evergreen Invincibles” from Evergreen, Louisiana.

Francis Marion Brinkley was married twice. His second wife was Alice Davis. They married 06/03/1898. After his death she drew his Civil War pension until her death 05/05/1923.

Brinkley, Francis Marion, Pvt. Co. G., 8th La. Calvary The 8th La. Calvary never left the state of Louisiana during the Civil War. The Unit was formed towards the end of the War. The regiment was organized 10/27/1864 in
South Louisiana. The men performed picket and outpost duty along lower Bayou Teche and the upper Atchafalaya River. They also participated in campaigns against Jayhawkers and deserters in St. Landry Parish Louisiana in early 1865.
Company G. of the 8th Louisiana Calvary was known as the “Murdock Guards”. It was named the “Murdock Guards” after Lt. W.H. Murdock.

Gabriel Laurent Bordelon was the first Bordelon in Louisiana. He migrated to Louisiana as an employee of the Company of the Indies he arrived in New Orleans in 1727/28. Laurent died in 1737 and no recordof his burial has ever been found.
